These are cheap, machine-made reeds, and the quality reflects this. The reeds play flat and have a duck-like tone, and I would not recommend them even for the beginning student. You can get a good hand-made reed for only a few dollars more at many places online, such as Forrests’ and Midwest Musical Imports. Hand-made reeds have much greater tone quality and response than manufactured ones since the maker has better control over all of all of the elements that make up a reed, like shape, pitch, tone, and response.
