I purchased this singing bowl as a gift for my friend. She called me right after she received it, and her voice was full of joy. She was enraptured with the gift – the pretty box of recycled paper, the explanatory note. She found the appearance of the bowl extremely pleasing. The listing does not show all angles. She struck the bowl again and again for me to hear over the telephone, and the sound really is beautiful. We did our usual Buddhist chanting over the telephone with increased fervor. I have my own singing bowl purchased years ago from another vendor. The sound of hers is far more beautiful to my ears.
Help answer the question about Tibet Silver
The importance of a little screw...?
Once upon a time, a young lad was born without a belly button. In its place was a silver screw. All the doctors told his mother that there was nothing they could do. Like it or not, he was stuck with it..... Hewas screwed. Please Star if you enjoyed this story. All the years of growing up were real tough on him, as all who saw the screw made fun of him. He avoided ever leaving his house.... And thus never made any friends. One day,a mysterious stranger saw his Tibet Silver belly and told him of a swami in Tibet who could get rid of the screw for him. He was thrilled. The next day, he took all of his life's savings and bought a ticket to Nepal. After several days of climbing up steep cliffs, he came upon a giant monastery. The swami knew exactly why he had come. The screwy guy was told to sleep in the highest tower of the monastery and the following day when he awoke, the screw would have been removed. The man immediately went to the room and fell asleep. During the night while he slept, a purple fog floated in an open window. In the mist floated a solid silver screwdriver. In just moments, the screwdriver removed the screw and disappeared out the window. The next morning when the man awoke, he saw the silver screw laying on the pillow next to him. Reaching down, he felt his navel, and there was no screw there! Jubilant, he leaped out of bed ...... And his butt fell off.The moral of the story: Don't screw around with things you don't understand.

This is an excellent bowl with beautiful sound, but it is a little different from the usual in that it has an upper lip that you cannot make a sound by rubbing. You must rub the rod around the upper portion of the bowl, but below and not touching the upper (slightly recessed) lip for you to be able to make it sound.
When I first got it I thought it could only be rung, as I could not get it to ’sing.’ I had to take it to friends who had signing bowls to help me figure out how to make it work right.
I ordered this for my father and his wife who run a meditation center. When it arrived, it did not have any details about who ordered it so it was several days before they realized it was from me. Meanwhile, they had been so pleased with the bowl that they put it in their main room and now use it for their classes. A wonderful gift and they are really happy with it. They said it was gorgeous.
